In celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the SC Disability Employment Coalition is inviting businesses in SC to attend the third annual Employer Summit, South Carolina’s Workforce: Empowering All. The Summit will build on strategies for hiring people with disabilities and help create a more inclusive work environment. Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and HR Certification Institute (HRCI) credit hours are pending.

If you are looking for candidates who will bring value to your company, the Summit will show you how to reach an untapped workforce. Agenda items include strategies to improve recruitment, practical tips for establishing an effective inclusive employment strategy, and networking opportunities with disability resource providers. National speakers and disability rights advocates, Rebecca and Patrick Cokley, are scheduled to deliver the keynote address.

“Seven out of ten people with disabilities in South Carolina are unemployed and the Summit is an excellent opportunity for employers to learn how they can create an inclusive workplace,” Says Sandy Jordan, Director of Employment Programs at Able South Carolina. “I encourage all employers to consider attending the Summit to leverage the benefits of recruiting and retaining diverse employees.”

The Summit will take place on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, from 11:30 AM – 2:00 PM at Stone River, 121 Alexander Road, West Columbia, SC 29169. Lunch will be provided, and registration is only $35. To register for the Summit, visit:
