Summerville Medical Center Announces Urogynecological Services
Welcomes Cary Fishburne, MD and Summerville Pelvic Health Specialists to the Lowcountry
Summerville, SC (July 16, 2018) – Summerville Medical Center is expanding its women’s services to include urogynecology, focusing on female pelvic health medicine and reconstructive surgery, to meet the needs of the growing Lowcountry community.
Summerville Medical is honored to welcome Cary Fishburne, MD to the hospital and the new practice of Summerville Pelvic Health Specialists. He began accepting patients on Monday, July 9. Dr. Fishburne joins Summerville Medical Center’s dedicated roster of board-certified and fellowship-trained physicians in urology and gynecology focused on providing our community with comprehensive pelvic health care.

Dr. Fishburne is a board-certified, fellowship-trained urogynecologist specializing in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. He completed his medical degree from The University of Virginia. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine internship from the Medical Center of Vermont and residency in obstetrics and gynecology from Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He developed his subspecialty of urogynecology while on faculty with the Navy in Bethesda, MD.

In September 2018, Summerville Medical Center is opening 30 new patient beds, additional labor and delivery rooms, and a neonatal ICU as the first major milestone in a $53 million expansion designed to improve access to the highest quality of services for women and children. The women’s and children’s hospital is scheduled to be completed and fully open in spring 2019.
