Charleston, SC (November 21, 2019) – Summerville Medical Center is pleased to welcome Sonia Baughman in the new role of Chief Financial Officer for the hospital. Her first day at Summerville Medical Center is Monday, December 16th.

Baughman joined HCA Healthcare, Summerville Medical Center and Trident Health’s parent company, in 2006 at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, FL. During her eleven years at Orange Park, she served in a variety of Financial roles before ultimately leading the Accounting team as Controller. In 2017, Baughman moved to sister HCA facility Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL as Assistant CFO.
Under her strong leadership, Memorial Hospital developed a complex care team and successfully helped improve placement and transitions for extended length of stay patients. She earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Master’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration at the University of West Florida.
Summerville Medical Center is a 124-bed hospital and has invested more than $100 million in growing the hospital’s facility, services, and team and investing in state-of-the-art technology. The hospital most recently completed a $61 million women’s, neonatal and surgical expansion that opened in July. Earlier this year, Summerville Medical Center broke ground on a $24 million expansion of the Emergency Department, Lab, Pharmacy and Dietary, as well as a $10.4 million freestanding ER in Berkeley County near Nexton.
