Summerville Medical Center welcomes Alec Grabowski as new chief operating officer

Summerville, SC – Summerville Medical Center has announced Alec Grabowski as the hospital’s new Chief Operating Officer.

Alec was most recently a director with United Health Service, a 600+ bed health system in Binghamton, NY. Prior to that position, he was the Director of Market Operations for Evolent Health in Arlington, VA and Project Manager with Wellstar Health System in Atlanta, GA.

“We are thrilled to welcome Alec to the Lowcountry and the Summerville Medical Center family,” said Chief Executive Officer Lisa Valentine. “His professional accomplishments include leading multi-million dollar acquisitions to expanding Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, and Obstetrical Care at numerous facilities. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be a significant resource as Summerville Medical Center continues to grow to meet the needs of our community.”

Alec will be spearheading the hospital’s more than $100 million investment into expanding its facility and services. In April Summerville Medical Center launched a $24 million ER expansion and this summer will complete a $61 million women’s services & surgical services expansion. On July 9, Summerville and Trident Medical Center will combine their obstetric and neonatal staff, physicians and services under one roof at Summerville Medical Center’s campus. Trident Medical Center will end obstetric and neonatal care on July 8.

Alec has dual Masters Degrees in Business and Healthcare Administration from George State University in Atlanta. He is the co-chair of the Campaign Cabinet for United Way of Broome County, a board member for the American Cancer Society of Broome County, and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Alec was born in upstate NY and grew up in Marietta, GA.
