Charleston, SC- Taziki's Mediterranean Café has decided to eliminate both straws and lids in both their Charleston area restaurants.
“Owning our promise at Taziki’s to ‘live the good life,’ we’ve decided to do our part in reducing ocean waste,” said Joe Norton, Charleston Taziki’s Mediterranean Café. “Nothing will be missing from the Taziki’s dining experience. We’ve just decided to add a little more purpose to our customer’s beverages.”
The company has always valued the importance of clean water. When entering Taziki’s restaurants, customers immediately view beautiful ocean mural art which was placed to emphasize Taziki’s focus on a deeper enduring sense of happiness or what the Greeks call ‘eudaimonia.’
“We care not only about the seas that line Greece, Italy, Turkey, and others -- but the oceans that wash along the coastal cities right here in the U.S., like Charleston,” said Rachel Layton, VP Marketing, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café. “Each drink you sip without a lid or straw means one more marine animal will have a cleaner ocean to live in. We are a community of the world, so we're committed to serving that community.”
The restaurant will still provide straws and lids to customers upon request and their website, tazikiscafe.com, provides descriptions of each entrée as well as nutritional information.
