The Charleston Apartment Association Donates $18,340 to the Lowcountry Food BankThe Charleston Apartment Association (CAA) was honored to donate $18,340 to Lowcountry Food Bank on Friday night. Over 100 CAA members rallied to contribute through participation in a golf tournament dedicated to raise funds and awareness for the Lowcountry Food Bank. In addition, through this partnership, the CAA was pleased to participate in several volunteer opportunities benefitting the program throughout the year.

This year the CAA designated the Lowcountry Food Bank’s Backpack Buddies program as the organization’s primary charitable focus. BackPack Buddies is designed to fight weekend hunger. Thousands of children in our community rely on free or reduced meals they receive at school. Children at partner schools who experience hunger are enrolled in the program and receive a backpack containing nutritious food to eat during the weekends each Friday during the school year.

“Thanks to the CAA Charleston Cares committee, the amount donated is an all-time record for us. We are honored to provide a donation that equals 110,040 meals for children in the lowcountry.” said Tammy Carvajal, President, Charleston Apartment Association.
