The Lowcountry Food Bank is Supporting #GivingTuesday by Raising Funds for Holiday Meals
Charleston, SC – November 20, 2018 – This #GivingTuesday, the Lowcountry Food Bank will celebrate giving by raising funds that could feed 150,000 individuals and families a holiday meal. The Lowcountry Food Bank’s goal is to raise $25,000.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
“As we prepare for November 27th, we’re inspired by our community’s generosity,” said Lowcountry Food Bank President and CEO Pat Walker. “Almost 50% of the people we serve are seniors and children,” said Walker, “so providing a holiday meal will make a significant difference for our neighbors who struggle with hunger.”
