MT. PLEASANT, S.C., May 9, 2019 — Toastmasters International has presented Kathleen Honan, a member of local club Pleasant Speakers, with its Competent Communication award. This educational program supports members in building their speaking skills one step at a time through a series of 10 projects.
“Kathy began with a single speech and developed skills ranging from organizing content and succinctness to vocal variety and visual aids,” said Craig Van Sickle, president of Pleasant Speakers. “Toward the end of the program, she had mastered the ability to persuade and inspire audiences, while leveraging humor. Our club is proud of Kathy, and we’re happy to see her expanded skillset, which enhances both professional and interpersonal interactions.”
According to Honan, her Toastmasters journey will continue. “I’m excited to have completed the Competent Communication track and start Toastmasters International’s newest educational program called Pathways,” Honan explained. “This program includes modern, digital components, and brings me new challenges.”
Pleasant Speakers Toastmasters Club #7783 invites guests to attend meetings, which are open to the public. Meetings are 6:00 p.m.-7:15 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays, every month, at Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, 847 Coleman Blvd., Second Floor, Mt. Pleasant. There is no cost to attend, and no prior experience or club membership is required to join.
