Trident Medical Center Names Landon Smith New Chief Operating Officer

North Charleston, SC – Trident Medical Center has named Landon Smith as its new Chief Operating Officer. He will start November 7, 2022. Smith currently serves in a similar position at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, TN, and Parkridge West Hospital in Jasper, TN.  Both are HCA Healthcare facilities.

Trident Health includes 321-bed Trident Medical Center, 124-bed Summerville Medical Center and three freestanding ERs – Brighton Park Emergency, Centre Pointe Emergency and Moncks Corner Medical Center. In the Spring of 2023 Trident will also open 60-bed behavioral health hospital, Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness; James Island Emergency; and a 569-space parking garage.

In his current role Landon effectively leads Parkridge’s surgical services, laboratory, plant operations, environmental services, therapy and nutrition services departments.  He is also the Chief Staffing Officer. At Parkridge Medical Center he led his teams in the construction of a new ER, a hybrid OR, as well as the relocation and renovation of Endoscopy.

Landon began his healthcare career in Savannah, GA at Memorial Health, where he served as the manager of planning and strategy.  Next, he joined HCA Healthcare’s North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL where he served as assistant administrator and co-ethics and compliance officer before transitioning to his current position.

He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and a masters degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. Landon is a member of the Tennessee Hospital Association on Inclusion and Health Equity and a mentor for students working toward a degree in Masters of Health Administration.

In his spare time Landon enjoys fishing, boating and spending time outdoors with his family and he is an active member in his church. He will be joined by his wife Morgan, daughter Emersyn, and son Luke.
