Charleston, S.C. – May 9, 2017 – United Community Bank is honored to be named Palmetto Goodwill’s Corporate Partner of 2016. The Bank was recognized on Thursday, April 27 at Palmetto Goodwill’s Shining Star Awards banquet at the Embassy Suites Charleston Area Convention Center. The banquet highlights the accomplishments of people that have found success through a Goodwill program and pays tribute to local leaders and business partners who have supported Goodwill’s mission of meeting the growing needs of shifting communities.
“We are thrilled to support a business that has a deep commitment to serve others, and Goodwill’s strong sense of community aligns with the values of United Community Bank,” said Dixon Woodward, Regional President–South Carolina for United Community Bank. “It is gratifying to help provide job training and employment services and we look forward to continuing to help Goodwill achieve its mission.”
United Community Bank was chosen for its support of Palmetto Goodwill during its refinancing, which allowed a substantial surge of revenues. These proceeds benefited Palmetto Goodwill’s mission to help people achieve their full potential in their careers. United’s involvement in 2016 helped fund Goodwill’s first walk and run event this past fall in Charleston.
Palmetto Goodwill is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing job training and employment services to homeless and struggling veterans, people with disabilities and individuals with various barriers to employment. Goodwill has been committed to this goal since 1979.
