Tri-County-based nonprofit We Are Family (WAF) is excited to announce a calendar of free events and programs occurring in February and March, supporting members and allies of the Lowcountry’s LGBTQI+ community.

SC Name Change Workshops- March 2 and March 30 at 5:30 p.m.
In partnership with Gender Benders, WAF is proud to offer free name change assistance for trans and queer young people aged 18 to 24. Program services include workshops covering the process, financial assistance, and an in-house notary public. Workshops will be held on the last Thursday of every month via Zoom unless otherwise stated. Register HERE

SafeSpace- Feb. 21, March 7 and March 21 at 7 p.m. (virtual) & February 14, Feb. 28, March 14 and March 28 at 7 p.m. (in-person)
Alternating between in-person and virtual events, Safespace, designed for middle and high schoolers under the age of 18, is a peer-led social support group facilitated by WAF staff and trained volunteers.

Queerspace- Feb. 20, March 6 and March 20 at 7 p.m. (virtual) & Feb.11, Feb. 25, March 11 and March 25, (in-person)- times TBD
Alternating between in-person and virtual, Queerspace is a peer-led social support group for young adults aged 18-24, facilitated by WAF staff and trained volunteers.

The Q Crew- Feb. 8, Feb. 22, March 8 and March 22 at 7 p.m. (virtual) & Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 11 and March 25 (in-person) – times TBD
Alternating between in-person and virtual, The Q Crew is a peer-led social support group for queer and trans Black, Indigenous, and People of Color aged 16-24, facilitated by WAF staff and trained volunteers.

NOH8 Campaign- March 22 from 6-8 p.m. at The Equality Hub (1801 Reynolds Ave.)
The NOH8 Campaign returns to Charleston for an open photo shoot to help raise awareness for marriage and human equality, as well as anti-discrimination and anti-bullying through NOH8’s interactive social media campaign. No reservations and no tickets are needed. Please arrive camera-ready with a plain white shirt to match the signature style of the NOH8 photos. Solo photos can be purchased for $40 per person, or couple/group photos for $25 per person.
