White Point Releases New Name for Office plus Concept Plans for 10+ Acre Development on Charleston’s Upper Peninsula

CHARLESTON, SC (September 14, 2020) - White Point, the creative urban development team behind regionally recognized multi-use and multi-family properties such as Foundry Point, Optimist Hall, and Bowers, is pleased to announce its plans for the second phase of development on a 10+ acre site at the intersection of Meeting St. and Algonquin Rd. The Quin, formerly known as Belvidere, seeks to transform the area into one of Charleston’s premiere mixed-use destinations while adding to the cultural fabric of the growing area.

New renderings of Phase II, located on the current site of the Pepsi distribution plant and across Algonquin Rd. from Phase I, show that the new development may encompass a vibrant campus of apartments, office, and food & beverage with 2nd level/rooftop patios. White Point envisions the development as a space for commerce, creativity, and culture to intersect.

As plans came together for Phase II, White Point made the decision to rebrand the first portion of the overall development.

“We feel that The Quin better reflects the location on Algonquin Street and the future of the area,” says Levell. “We want The Quin to be a place that looks forward, and we just weren’t convinced that would be the case with a name that honors the past.”

Development of Phase II will begin when Pepsi vacates its distribution plant on the 5.6 acre site. Construction on The Quin (Phase I), the five-story office building with ground-level retail space, green space and outdoor recreational activities, and adjacent parking garage and surface parking lot, is nearing completion. White Point expects to deliver space to tenants beginning in November 2020.
